As usual...I'm in my slippers cause I'm lazy (and a sloth) hahaha

And then when slowly, the participants (guests?? People?) start trickling in (ah pek always drops me off sibeh early. It's his nature haha) with their ootds. (Heck, even the guys are in nice ootds haha)

Then I regret and start pep talking to myself to at least wear my flats next time.

Though, after so many workshops...I can safely say it's a vicious cycle and I nvr learn 😂

So ok la. New rule for me.

Stabilo is starting to have collaborations with artists (I guess that would be the term?) to hold workshops!

Today's the first one and it is fashion illustration with venietee (you can search for her in Insta)

So of course, those are Stabilo stuffs and her works!

Super happy Stabilo invited me to join them for this session ☺️ so kind of them! #blessed

Next month's one will be brush lettering with ronnycakes! (Insta name)

So competitive workshops nowadays. Must provide the tools + food and everything must be insta worthy 😂

Anyway, notes (human figure sketches drawn by venie herself) and colour pencils and the likes!

Seriously for a person that likes to see fashion & draw fashion, I don't dress up at all. I mean look at me and my slippers 😂

I have quite a number of dresses bought like a few years back and they have never seen the light cause I'm lazy to dress up.

But I don't wanna give them away! I bought them cause I love it!

So as you can see form the notes, those are croquis drawings.

Croquis drawing is quick and sketchy drawing of a live model. Croquis drawings are usually made in a few minutes, after which the model changes pose or leaves and another croquis is drawn.

So our job today was just to draw fashion on it! Didn't even have to draw the body 😂 not like the last workshop I went to.

So it really depends what u wanna learn / looking fwd to.

Erm, hahaha I seriously thought she's super young (I mean she looks young to me la)

Until she gave a short introduction about herself with the sentence "I was a fashion designer and have been in the industry for 10 years."

😳 oh.
Okay. She's not that young then hahaha

And hoho! Beatrice looi was there too! Came to support her 😁 she said Beatrice was her mentor which she shook it off saying "no! I'm student today!"

Surprisingly loud, funny and kind 😂 something lidat

So she demonstrated first and then we all proceeded our own. She will go around to help / teach.

This is her showing how live drawing is being done. Fast and sketchy. Just to get the overall gist of it. Cause the model will change fast.

Showing how to use Stabilo markers which can be added with water for Watercolour effect.

Cause u know...they are not waterproof 😜 hahaha

Last time always wanna find waterproof pen, now that one can see the benefit of a non waterproof pen. The tables turn 😂

Really a case of, "look at the positive side of things."

Took a photo of the guy's work next to me. The first one is his work (he's a freelance designer)

The other two are the demo drawings by venie.

The sketchy one in the middle as I said & the last one is a demo on how u draw ...chiffon if I remember correctly.

Most of them have either art background (like interior design/designer) and a few are actually fashion students.

So everyone's work today was a lilllll bit insane hahahah like hello, even Beatrice looi was there. I regretted not taking a photo of her work 😐

But I love it! 😍
I can walk around to see what / how the fashion is being drawn. Everyone has their own style and it's really quite interesting!

It was really quite fun just drawing fashion (at least I don't have to think of proportions!) and erm...therapeutic🙈

There's actually quite a bit to think about like structure, material, colour, focus etcetc.

But if you are just drawing for fun. Then it's fun lo 😂 I guess esp if you like fashion in general. It's really fun to see pretty clothes and drawing them out. Interpreting it in your own way.

Stabilo passed me some pens and markers to play with!

Got a shock when I saw the amount of pens Hahahahah cause ah...never seen so many coloured pens at one go befre 😂

Other than at the bookshop? And when you feel like buying all but you can't? 😂

Also, cause I actually hardly use coloured pens. So to see this is like "ermmmmm, ok. How am I gonna use them?" 😅

I also find it funny that although Stabilo is an established brand (it's been here forever?) don't think many ppl buy?

Summore it's branded cause it's from Germany? But when I was young, steadler seems to be the brand.

Even with the colouring craze now, I see people buying faber castell more..hmm.

Though then again, I myself don't own any Stabilo 😂 the colour pencils I own is colleen. I buy it more for childhood sake la and my steadler colour pencils from 20 years back are still with me.

So..... 😶
It's actually quite impossible to finish using unless u REALLY use.

Though I'm fully confident that almost everyone grew up with these Hahahah 😂😂

These are very old as u can see. But I think their highlights are one of the most long lasting.

I tried another famous brand once 😒
Didn't last to anywhere honestly.

So with this..I think I'm quite confident that their pens will last quite long 😂

Target audience should be for children and school teachers I guess? But of course if you like thicker markers, by all means!

Hahahaha suitable for me also la since I'm always losing my stuffs. 😂

But I think it's cute! You just put the colours you want (I think one ring can fit around 12 colours) and carry them out!

I guess the only problem is that if u don't cap it back the moment u use it....then u prolly worry about losing the caps altogether one shot 😂

Quite nice to use actually. Colours are nice and vibrant!

Tried to recall if there's any other brands I can compare it with but ah...nope.

It's a bit like magic colour maybe? And the only Magic colours I use (like on a super rare basis) are the ones from daiso 😂😂😂

Of course can't be compared!

The pen 88 series which I think should be quite famous. I myself used it since schooling days cause it's quite cheap and durable. (Esp to write in autograph books)

And yes, I still own some.
Now I can has sibeh many colours muahahahaha 😈

Though I only used it for writing. Today I shall see if I can actually draw with pens (not sure to call these pens or markers) 😂

So yes, in a way, you just saw markers/pens in diff nib size 😂

Oh. One thing about their pens is that it's not circular? Hahaha

It's quite iconic I guess that their pens are in hexagon shape?

And also the cappi series has that diff end at the end?

All these small things makes it ah...harder to roll to anywhere 😂

Cause it's easier to bring pens than watercolour out??

Did these on good quality paper (like water paper quality) but I have a feeling if u were to write on normal paper, the ink might seep through.

So something to think about.
Either u buy better quality notebooks or just skip the pages when u write 😂

The tip is like normal magic pen so you can't really do calligraphy / brush lettering since usually u will need flexible nibs right?

What ronnycakes did was she just used the ink colour and not the pen itself to write! 😁

Bee Stings are expensive

At the clinic now.

I also don't know.

Plus his left foot is actually sprained, so it's like wrapped and all.

Then this bee sting?

It's on his right foot.

Seriously?! 😓

To be on a safe side, I made so much noise like an auntie (acting like my age ma hahaha) & dragged him to the doctor's.

Cause I read somewhere that a bee sting can lead to death if you're allergic to it (something like that)

Am not taking any chances man.
I only have one brother. 😵

My father, being the typical cina dad he is.
He said just put "fong Yao" and it will heal 😓

My dad is the typical "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger." kind of dad. 😐

2ndly, he said ok. It doesn't look like there's any big problem.

Then he said, "but if suddenly swell or what, you have to go to the hosp as emergency case and be on the drip. Also take the jab."

😳 firstly you said ok. Then suddenly ask us to be prepared.

I...don't gimme heart attacks like these.

Marbled Paper & Paper Flowers @ The Craft Crowd

Starting my day with ba zhang!! 😋

Long day ahead so I need all the fats I can get hhahaha

No one in my family makes salty ba Zhang! So have to resort to buying from friend's mom.

Or hoping will get from other people Hahahaha

My grandma makes ba zhang but Nyonya one. The sweet one? With the blue colour rice?

That's nice too but ..yea, I want my salty ba zhang 😅

And it's so hard to wrap ba zhang!
Any of U tried befre? My grandma asked my mom and me to leave her kitchen cause we were destroying more than helping😂

It's in conjunction with Mother's Day cause we will be making paper flowers!

Damn pretty right?!?!😍

The instructor today will be evermore flowers. They are I think, the only one in Msia supplying paper flowers for events (wedding, parties etc)

Asked them before for a quotation on their paper flower rental just in case I need them for my wedding photo booth backdrop.

Erm..it will come up to quite a sum if I want a lot 😣

So when I saw there was a workshop...thought I will just go and learn la 😂

Even if I don't use it, it's an extra skill.

They also make crepe flowers! As you can see! The rose one was incredibly pretty! 😍

Actually I am sure if you are hardworking and google online, there should be tutorials.

But I'm the kind that prefers to have a person to instruct 😂 not independent plus if it's self learn, I might drag and drag and never learn in the end.

Oh yea, there's also a marbled paper workshop together with the paper flower.

So today is kinda like a 2in1 workshop.

A bit worried cause crafting is not my forte 😅

I like doing crafts but I just don't have the skill for it. My work will always be a bit rough, not delicate and definitely not very neat 😂

But okay! I will try my best today!💪

Started off with marbled paper!

Hahahah everyone was like, "woah! Magic!" 😂

I seriously seriously remember doing this in primary school, just can't remember what are the exact materials cause it's definitely different from what we used today.

Today's materials are not super cheap in general. Not sure if it's worth to buy unless you want to make a big batch of marbled paper for an event or as a wrapping paper etc.

To just do for fun...?

😛 but I realized the stuffs I can actually get from dad's kilang.

Such pretty pretty mess!

😂 this thing tests your colour sense and your timing.

Sometimes luck as well. Cause you kinda never know what you will get. Since it looks nice on the water, doesn't mean it will look nice on the paper.

Though it's really quite therapeutic, all you have to do is mix and swirl them. And hopefully some magic will appear 😂

So different!

I guess the strength about doing this is that you can never get the same artwork twice. So it means every pc is truly unique.

Also, works better with darker colors. If not it will be quite flat like my pink one.

Of course.. It's personal preference.

It either looks nice or ...looks like some disease looking thing under the microscope 😂

I still think it looks like it will make good cards, origami or wrapping papers!!

There's 2 tables and I don't know why. The table I was sitting at were all standing. The other table were doing their work while sitting down like elegant people.

Mine was like hooligans 😂
I always somehow end up at the noisier side.

I don't know how many times my fingers are burnt (not burnt burnt. But it hurts) from the hot gun. 😢

I must have sounded like a 小姐(weak woman? Haha) every time I made a lil sound when I burnt myself 😵

oh goodness, today I really found out how bad I am at crafting. 😅

And how confused and lost I was, it was going at what seems like fast fwd speed for me.

And I had to constantly check with my neighbor to see what's the next step 😅

I think i must have annoyed the hell out of her although she was patient most of the time. (most ah. Cause at one time, can feel she cannot tahan Liao😅)

It wasn't super difficult once u get the hang of it. But unfortunately, I never really got the hang of it 😅

I don't get how mine doesn't look as "rose" as the rest. How my petals look closed instead of open.

Like a late bloomer rose 😂

Frustrated yet at a loss plus rushing #sigh

Though the instructor said many times that as long overall it looks okay.

But I guess the perfectionist (This annoying habit of mine that I have but sometimes can't achieve) in me just can't let it go.

By the time we moved on to this, it was super rushing cause we are behind schedule 😵

Which makes things worse for me hahaha cause now have to speed up with my confusion.

It's honestly just layering the petals! Not sure why I can't seem to grasp it! Ugh* am gonna check ALL the tutorials online!

And stare at REAL petals for a while! 😤

I prefer doing the crepe ones! Although it was more work.

Not sure it was more work cause of the amount of petals needed for a peony but thankfully cause it's small, it was easier to control at the very least.

The purple one unfortunately are the demo sets hahahauaha the sad looking peach colour one is mine.
