Uptown Eats : Tsujiri & Lou Shang Bar

What time isit?

Meimei & bulat's fatfat time! ✨✌️

This woman always random one la.
Haha so here we are! At tsujiri!

So many new shops opening lately at uptown. Really quite insane. 😳

There's 2 new shops specializing in green tea! (I think the other one is really more to tea, tea. I will have to google)

This one is more to green tea and green tea deserts! 🍡
This is the parfait at a shocking price of rm17😳
Now I remember why I stopped eating desserts outside hahaha and just wait for birthdays instead πŸ˜‚ #superkiambulat

The matcha was not bad.
But ms.chan said that it's like any good matcha ice cream. To magnify the price ..she said she ate one at taiwan which tasted exactly the same for a fraction of the price πŸ˜…

Not helping please ms.chan!

Better stick to just buying the ice cream la. Cause this is actually just ice cream on top of coarse shaved ice. (Hollow one summore)
There was a customer raving about how awesome the yuzu shaved ice is πŸ˜‚

Which ms.chan replied (silently of course)
"We are at a green tea shop, why the heck should we order yuzu."πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…
Note about ms.chan.

She's random πŸ˜‚

So here we are next door!
Miru! Specializing in French toast but we ain't ordering any cause ...it would be totally crazy to eat that after dinner + dessert.

(Will definitely come back for the French toast cause my bro who doesn't like French toast, actually praised it. Not sure if this or harajucube is better la)

I mean this is round 2 yo!

So this is their choc lava fr rm18(I think)
(Seriously one main course meal price)
Oooooh it oozes!! 😍

Hahaha ms.chan say this one more worth than just now's parfait cause this takes skills at the very least.

Hardly ate lava cake that actually melts like this. The last time was prolly 10 years ago at a restaurant (don't know if it's still there) at old klang road.
Proceeded to tapau for mom cause I don't wanna get into trouble πŸ˜‚

Rm18 for this drink!
(Ok I guess. It's like paying for starbucks seasonal drinks)

Some passion fruit drink.

Taste was really not bad! Tinge of sour! 😝 mom finished it in ah....I think 5 min tops. Whathenonsense. No brain freeze meh?!?!

It's a blended drink! 😳
But the top is so pretteh!!!

I think drinks are quite popular cause I saw many tables ordering also despite the price.

There's this couple, 1 French toast and 2 drinks! (1 ea la means)

It was 10pm Wei! 😳

Young ppl and their metabolism.

If I do that with ah pek......

No we are never gonna be doing that at 10pm unless we had no dinner.
#weareoldfarts
#wecantdoitanymore
Since I'm Dayre-ing about uptown eats.
Might as well tell you guys about this!

Went there last week or so with ms.chan again (I should start a hashtag for this haha)

When she first told me the name. I laughed cause...I mean upstairs bar?? πŸ˜‚ and it's really upstairs. 2nd floor.
That's ms.chan (Sr. AD in big company. Don't play play 😁)

When i first saw the place from the outside ..was thinking why so dodgy πŸ˜… cause from outside, you will only see the darkness + lanterns.
Felt very wrong okay!
Even to go up, there's no indication or anything.

Just a mini umbrella hanging at the ceiling of the staircase.

Once U climbed up to frst floor...also no indication. Just a wooden door. Like office looking door.

And you don't pull or push...you slide it😡

Walao. Play escape room meh! Hahahaha
Why so out of the norm.
The interior!
We sat outside😁
Cause there was no one leh...felt a bit weird Cus the whole place would only be our voice if we were to sit inside.

Okayla. Quite interesting and homey.

The bartenders were friendly too (I guess they have to be ? Since usually have to talk to customers right? Esp when they sit at the bar counter?)

I hardly go to places like this where U order cocktails and what nots. So definitely something new.
Our drinks!
Can't remember what was it already. But mine was just some normal refreshing mojito.

Ms.chan's one was more interesting. (So Old school glass lor)

The bartender even burned (lit up?) a cinnamon stick for smelling before drinking.

The aftertaste was like hacks πŸ˜‚
Ms.chan says i can spoil everything with my description πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Anyway, found out that's the taste of absinthe.

And there was suppose to be a ginger in the mix but cause they didn't have ginger reduction. So Takde lo.
The fried chicken which on the menu is called "kok kok kaiiiiiiiiii" πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Surprisingly tasted nice?!??
Very rare I find yummy food at drinking places. I think I don't mind going back to try other food.

Not sure about drinks.
Cause I don't really know how to appreciate and it's not cheap.

Mine was rm38? (I think)
Ms.chan's was rm45.
😳 I shall stick to my wines.

But it was interesting!
And the bartender that was talking to us (whenever he can,I think he's friendly and bored haha)
Is a very very nice guy!
He's actually Singaporean!

Waiting for his wife's visa paperwork to be done. So while waiting, he's doing this part time!

He says that malaysia's standard of living is actually quite high.

For rm5K salary, you can't just always splurge. Let's say on drinks. For one drink is rm30 plus. How much can U splurge? And how often?

But in sg, sgd5K, U can already live a quite comfortable life. And a drink will most likely cost around 15sgd.

That's what he said!
Also very funny! Cause he asked us if we always go to bars. We say no.

And he asked next, if we have visited the bar behind this row. We said no again.

Then he said we should cause it's those kind of bars where the bartenders wear tuxedo (without the coat but yea) and they are handsome handsome one πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Don't know why he has to emphasize.
They are handsome handsome one!
Must double it πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Anyway, I hope he didn't say it cause we look lonely or something πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

But mainly he just wants us to try and see the different feels that each bar has!

Maybe next time, when ms.chan is feeling random (and for me, feeling rich πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚)

Mamee Museum & Monster Kitchen Workshop @ Jonker Street, Melaka

Backdated post about our mamee trip in November! πŸ˜›

So here we are again!
This time purely for the museum and their workshop! 😁

Birthday treat from my ah pek!
So much shiny! ✨

The name is super catchy?
World of good taste πŸ˜‚

Hahahahahah

(Someone better not comment that it's their tag line hence the name. I will feel paiseh πŸ˜…)

😱😱😱
*silent screams*

The first area was done in the old sundry shop style!
This photo does no justice to how detailed this area is! You just have to see it for yourself😁

Love it soso much! Not because it's hipster (LOL ok. Maybe a lil) but cause it brings back fond memories!!

My kampung house in penang used to be a sundry shop! My early years of childhood is ah..."stealing" food whenever I like! (haha my uncle kept tab & my dad just paid it)

Of course one of it being mamee πŸ˜‹
So cute!

The monster is everywhere!
In ah.. Non subtle ways πŸ˜‚

Massive kind.
Like so.

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Still cute.

I always wondered how this monster came about. What were the initial designs? How come they settled for this in the end? Was it the trend back then or cause it stood out from the rest?

Don't think other junk food actually has a mascot ..... Hmmm.
Told you they are everywhere in a non subtle way πŸ˜‚

I knew there was a pink one but never knew her "background".

I tell you. This is so universal.
Girl character = eyelashes, pink in colour and bow. πŸ˜‚
This is one of my fav corner! 😁
Cause it explains the background of the monster family!

I didn't know there was a cousin named Yankee monster! He looks more erm ..rugged? 😌

And also baby ones!
More like lil ones la.

Lil mamee and lil Yankee! Very adorable! 😊 I have seen lil mamee somewhere but I didn't know it's really part of the family.

Thought it's you know..like fake πŸ˜… like someone just took the main one and re-scale it.
This is self explanatory 😁

There's a history of the company on the wall that you can read & you can tell that it has come a long way since the early years.
You can have everything you desire as long as you believe you can do it.

Easier said than done but as long we keep moving and believing! πŸ’ͺ
The start of the empire it is today.

Definitely evolved according to times throughout the years!
This photo is cause U know..ah pek's fav football team's signature πŸ˜…
I remember the packaging with the lady on it fairly well cause she always appears in advertisements last time.

She holds 2 forks to pull the mee to show how springy it is!
Grew up with this packaging!
Looks so vintage now!

Don't mind if they bring back this old packaging but not sure if it will sit well with kids.

Do kids look at packaging? 😳
But definitely need to catch their eyes I guess. Or they are eating cause their parents (our gen) are eating?

We re-Introduce to them our childhood right?

And so this is where I saw the female one! πŸ˜‚ slipped my mind completely.

Can someone remember if mamee was the one with stickers or was it tatts inside it? Hmm.
This I will remember very very well.

My jap classmates turned friends and I were buying instant noodles for our mini PD getaway.

And while we were choosing which brands to take for the curry (or was it laksa...I think it was curry) flavour.

This promoter for another brand (I shall not mention what brand he was promoting) saw us debating and came to us to say.

If you want curry, I would recommend mamee chef cause it's the best out there!
😳😳😳
Our faces Hahahahaha
Like wth. You are promoter for brand X but U recommend mamee chef??!

So of course we took his recommendation πŸ˜‚
Promoting another brand which you are not under. If that's not honesty, what is?
Overseas market!
I never knew mamee was international 😱

Now that I know, I think I will keep a lookout when I travel next time! It will be fun to spot a homegrown brand overseas in their local supermarket right? πŸ˜‚
πŸ˜’ how come the overseas packaging maciam nicer?

Also! I Wanna try the above!!
I definitely don't see it here!!
😳 if anyone saw it here, Lemme know so I can go buy to try!

Actually they have a few diff stuffs / flavors that I don't think is available here.
Looks very atas with the Korean words πŸ˜‚
Woah. I ate a lot of double decker when I was young too.

The prawn one.
Only the prawn one πŸ˜‚

Unfortunately I hardly eat any junk food nowadays. Or I try not to. I don't know. More health conscious as you age?

But I still eat mamee though! πŸ˜…
Contradicting me.

Also, as much as I love instant noodles, my mom hates them. So my house don't have any instant noodles in general other than indo mee cause my brother breaks rules.
Hey hey! Saved the best for the last!
The awesome red bus!

Not the whole thing, just part of it but awesome enough!!! 😊

The kids (and moms) were like "wah wah seng" (wah wah sounds haha) when they saw this. I think most people did.
Ahhhhhhhh!!! So cute!!! 😍

This was really awesome!!!!

Though if he moves suddenly, that would be a different scream coming from me πŸ˜…
πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
That's ah pek.
We were fooling around trying to get good shots of it!

Many people sat on the front and selfie!
Very cute also but we didn't manage to cause we suck at selfie-ing.
Oh how can I forget mr.potato 😁

Hmm wasn't there a mister potato song last time? Can't seem to find it on YouTube so not sure if the tune I remember is even correct πŸ˜…

I realize nowadays ads don't stick as well/as much ah. People can change channels, fwd it or skip it altogether. Regardless TV or youtube.

Anyway! End of the tour 😁
Thought it was well worth the rm5 la. Quite fun and educational too!

Worth the months of wait! ✨
After that, I went upstairs for this!! 😁

Hahahaha make your own mamee!

(I wasn't kidding when I said I love mamee)
πŸ˜… though the workshop is opened to adults too but I definitely felt a lil out of place with all the kids inside.

Plus parents waiting at the sides for their kids πŸ˜…

So ah pek was waiting for his "big kid" aka me, at the sides with them. He kept laughing when he saw me sitting there, awkwardly standing out among the kids 😣

There was an adult next to me. But that's cause he was with his 5 year old daughter ... 😢

Anyway, a video to explain the process of making the mamee!
We were given aprons (which are super adorable but don't know why this design is different from the one sold at the shop)

And a cap to cover our head so you know, no hair falls in.

Not bad ah. #maciamyes
Hahahah

Also, they will keep asking you to wash your hands when necessary. Very hygienic. I like that.

Kids get to not only learn the process but also be aware of hygiene.
Fairly simple.

First you will be kneading the dough.

Which I don't know why mine won't come together πŸ˜… but the staff were really friendly and helpful. So erm..the oldest "kid" in class needed the most assistance hahaha #damnfail

Of course for the young ones, parents joined in to help out.

After kneading, you will place it into this manual machine to flatten it like so! (manual cause you will have to turn the handle so that it moves)
This is the machine.
One side to flatten.
Another side you will see it soon enough.

So while we wait for the dough to dry, we were given the mamee packets for us to decorate it as we wish 😁

Actually there was quite a bit of waiting time in between, so you can slowly think of what to draw. No problem!
Jengjengjeng! This is what happens when you put it on the other side of the machine!

The dough becomes like so!

Then you will add chicken stock to it.
Mix it thoroughly and then off it goes for the frying process!
Baking!
(I think. Sorry can't remember liao)

And sorry couldn't get much photos cause my hands were either busy or dirty hahaha

Ah pek has them but it's all in his dslr 😐
Frying process!

Which unfortunately (or fortunately) you won't get to do cause the staff will do it for you! 😁
You can watch it from behind the window like this πŸ˜‚

Wonder if the staff inside feels like an animal at the zoo.

If not you can always continue doing the designing of your packaging!
And we are done!! ✨

Do take note though.
Cause it's done in batches of 4.

You might end up having any one of the ones that are same table as you.

You might not end up having your own one. Cause once fried & taken off their respective plates (which are numbered in the beginning to know which is whose) but after that, when placing into bags, you won't know which is which anymore.

So ..hahah as long as you are not fussy la. 😁 but confirm clean okay. Everything is monitored!

Every kid (both small & big, young & old) other than the one you made, you get a goodie bag with MORE mamee inside!

Mamee overdose!
(Never!)

Am keeping this paper bag foreverrrrr hahahahaha #hoarder
Here's my erm..packaging πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Ah pek said it's ugly πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
I think so too.

Looked like a very cheap, fan pan, LV mamee. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Don't know how I ended up with so many elements & colours at one go. But okayla. Definitely stood out πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
And the back part!!

Which ah pek approves πŸ˜‚
Since when he's my critique.

Anyway, it was fun!

There's another workshop called noodle doodle or something. Just drawing your own mamee in a cup, choosing condiments and they will seal it for you.

Thought this was more educational ..in a way? Though not super hands on but not bad la. (Not so much about standing out being the oldest but nvmmmm. I can has mamee yo!)😁

#mamee
#mameeworkshop
#monsterkitchen
#mameemuseum
Ah pek asked "did the self made one tasted better?"
To be honest right.....I didn't eat hhahaha πŸ˜…
It's still with me although as you can see, it's already long expired.

Just didn't come around to eat it and next thing I knew, it has expired. Lasts maybe around 2 weeks or so?

So now the question is ....
Can it still be eaten?
Should I go just go for it and eat it? πŸ˜‚
At most just lao Sai right?

So yay or nay?! πŸ˜›

38 mom

Remember this?

Well..posted it on FB today and see my mom 😱

How ah if one day I become 38 like her?!
😱😱😱😱
