Opika Organic Market Restaurant @ 1 Utama

OPIKA ORG MARKET RESTAURANT
No. 105 & 106, LG One Utama (OLD-NEW WING)
(Located Somewhat Opposite of Noodle Shack/Ninja Joe's)
Tel : 03-77322581

I remember seeing the big ass "Under Renovation" signboard. There were hand drawn fishes on it and I thought it would be another fish & co. kinda restaurant and actually...the reason for going in to eat in the first place was because Opika was one of the rare restaurant that did not have a queue outside-_- Weekend dinners at 1Utama is scary. Another reason I guess is because Opika is surrounded by shops/restaurants (other then Hokkaido) that cost half the price to eat a meal. Love organic restaurants that sells products in within the restaurant :D hahah can shop while waiting for the food (which I didn't this time around cause I was directing ms.lyn who was stuck in carpark B2 for 30 minutes trying to get parking)

Mushroom soup RM15.00

This is the kind of mushroom soup that when you pay for it, you don't feel cheated. laughs* clearly not the diluted Campbell soup kind with extra obligatory canned button mushrooms. My mom ESP adore these kind of mushroom soups (you know, real blended mushrooms in it) and be careful with the biscuit (the long stick, sticking out of the soup) cause I tried to break it, resulting to it breaking alright, but splashing it all over my ah pek too.... Sorry... *puppy eyes*

Quinoa Salad RM20.00

I did google a lil bout the restaurant before I wrote this post and arh... I realized everyone ate this salad hahahahaha the moment I asked the waitress what was quinoa. She explained it together with 'I guarantee you it's very nice, you won't regret it' of course you will automatically reply her 'okaylah' so maybe that's what made everyone else ate the same salad hahahah or maybe i was the only dumdum in this whole organic thing cause my health freak friends certainly knew what was it when i mentioned it-_- it was really good though. Finished in an eye blink-_- the mangoes and avocado inside made it finish faster (cus everyone wants a bite of those chunks!)

Aglo Olio with Salmon RM35

Taste was normal to me. Then again am no big fan of pasta but mom seems to enjoy it well enough. I guess it's good for anyone who wants a light but 'nutritious' meal. Or should I say it suits people who are careful of their diet. At the very least, it feels light and doesn't make you feel very round after.

Confit of chicken RM30.00

I'm the last person to judge pricing cause in my family of 4, I'm the only one who doesn't do any house "market-ing" (buy groceries at wet markets haha) but 30 bucks seems expensive for a thigh, no? But if you close an eye and put that aside, yummmmmss wei. If I remembered correctly, the sauce was a blend of pumpkin and pineapple. Ms.lyn was put off by the description at first but she was also the one who ended up with a damn clean plate! Down to the sauce which were scrapped clean with her fork. Never ever judge with the eye, it's always the tongue and tummy's duty.

Apple cake with walnut crumble and vanilla ice cream RM12.00
(omg, i deserve to die for this blurred photo-_-!)
Crunchy outside, couldn't really see/feel walnuts, soso on the inside. Mediocre apple cake for me. I definitely have eaten better apple cake (or apple pies) then again most of the best ones are always home baked. Maybe the fact that it's home baked and not for sale makes it all better hahaha

For me it was a lil on the pricey end but I guess it's forgivable since Opika is an organic restaurant. For me who judge food through my tummy, it was satisfying (for me the portion was just right, not sure bout big eaters though) I think in general anyone would enjoy the food; taste and visual wise.(Not that sure bout desserts though)

Actually all the more you should just go nownownow! Because they have an effing 15% off!!! (till i don't know when!) Even some of their fruit juice is on discounted price. Who doesn't love discounts? Okaylah, I don't know bout you guys but to me is like angels dropping star cookies. We saved around rm18 for the above bill. That's like...........2 weeks worth of McD ice cream sundae. Every.single.day. A sundae a day makes me happy in every way~

Okaylarh. Fine! That rm18? You can order an extra soup or dessert with change for your 4 hours 1Utama parking. Clear enough how much 15% is ba!

Aquaria KLCC

Not suppose to snap, but I sneakily did anyway.
Everytime ah pek brings up the topic of bringing me to Aquaria, I will always decline. There is a reason behind it and I just want him to have Aquaria's memory as it is for him. But this time around he was veryvery persistent. In fact, he and I had a lil tug of war right at the entrance for both of us were stubborn in our lil ways. I gave in in the end... *pouts*

I was paying more attention to this lady's tudung. It is Cat print! so cutttteee!!
Aquaria KLCC is a place I would not recommend unless you have children (fr you know education purposes) or have really too much time to kill. Maybe I was at fault for comparing it to the ones overseas (I especially remember the one I went to at perth when I was 9. Or maybe everything looks better when you are 9 haha the world was a much more colourful, less tainted place) and somewhat the whole had this dullish colour instead of happy vibrant hues(think lil mermaid??) It was also upsetting to see not that much varieties of fishes. In fact the fish tunnel to me was the most disappointing of the whole Aquaria considering its suppose to be the highlight of the place usually. am this close to taking my marker and drawing extra fishes on the glass.

Spot the froggie!

Information wise was sufficient. Although it's suppose to be an underwater world but they do have few reptilias, bugs and mammal as well. I was dying at the sight of reptiles, I was clinging on to ah pek for my dear life despite them being safely locked up behind display units.

You purposely bring me here so that I won't let go of you wan isit??*still clinging to him like some koala bear from behind oblivious from the nearby kids and foreigners stares*

Where got! I damn nice let you pok mong okay? Im the one at rugi here!

-_-

I guess for the both of us in the end of the day, it's just another activity that we do together so we can have many random memories to bring up the next time around/in the many years to come. But in all honesty for the rm35? I think I'd rather it be spent for a play at KL PAC. Shhhh*

But I was happy happy to see this tunnel link ontheway to Aquaria. This tunnel is even more interesting and at the very least colourful compared to Aquaria-_- can't believe I just said that after the prolly millions spent to build Aquaria. This isn't even Aquaria's work. It's an ad Samsung Galaxy note came out with.

Ah pek obliged to my random photo taking. Hahahahaha I don't know ist because of age or cause he doesn't really do all these to begin with. So he always stares at me one kind when I have funny requests. (which in my defense it's very normal if you enjoy taking shots anytime out there!)

I love the fact that he's easily 'conned' and he doesn't mind retaking the shots many times after seeing how cute it can be :P Cute what! Not cute meh? My ah pek not cute la :D After 30, cannot use the word cute dy. (you know it's hard not to call him ah pek when I am with his friends? cause all of them same age! although I don't mean it and call it out of affection but still...)

KLCC is the home to one of my most fav place in the world!! Ah pek says its the most dangerous too haha to both our Wallets :( now that I think of it, Aquaria's tickets should be used to buy any random book instead :p

I have a dream for this place I love so dearly but ah pek says its highly impossible. T_T Either I really have to talk and bat my lashes too, to get my way through or pay through my nose for it. Honestly, I would gladly do both to have my dream come true Hahahahha not saying what it is though :P *shy*

Anne's Day at La Gomera & DIB, Coffees of Hawaii

My lil Anne's birthday!!! She's prolly the only friend (for now) that I can proudly announce that our friendship is 20 years old!! (omg that is long right?? Feels damn long! In dog years that's 140 years!)
Seriously Anne? Your face never change after all these years lor!

Also prolly the first time I see the birthday girl buying the coupons for her own birthday meal-_- feels wrong in every way to me.
Bought La Gomera voucher from Groupon for four. So it comes up to RM19 per person. But because we had a total of 8 people, we added 2 paellas ala-carte and some drinks which came to a total of RM50.

In the morning when I was panicking looking at the map cause I wasn't sure where is it and I'm road dumb like that (not repeating the supposed 10 min road home became 1 hour journey back home story) someone please start painting the roads in different colour for different routes please! I called ms.Lyn for confirmation cause her workplace was around that area just to find out La Gomera is just opposite her office d'oh Bulat!!!! Blurrrrrr!!

"Btw why are you going there?"
"Oh! Celebrating Anne's birthday at La Gomera."
Silence
"What?? Why?? .... Bad?"
"Er... Okaylarh. But try to stay away from the salad I guess... Cause my whole company who went ended up having an intimate time with their own toilet bowl the very next day"
"....Why you tak cakap bout this restaurant geh? At least I know and won't go ba."
"Hahaha how I know you will go Leh ! It's so secluded . Am surprise you found it. Anyway people will recommend good restaurants laaaa, this is mediocre so I did not say anything lorh."

Some squid ink paella that made everyone's teeth turn black.
True to every word. No, none of us had any toilet day. But the food was really mediocre (to me) In fact, right now when I look at the pictures I did not remember anything memorable other then the squid ink Paella cause char inn likes it. Would not recommend the place although I think it's okay for a first visit since the buffet price is cheap. RM49.90 for first person, second person half price. But am definitely not going back there again. Since I grow fat fast with every bite, better eat good food . Don't waste my calories :P (spoilt nyer)

Birthday girl with her cute birthday cake. Seems like the trend nowadays is the smaller the better , price does not matter. Gone were the days where people buy big ass secret recipe cakes and force everyone to bring some home and yes, yours truly ate like 2 huge chunks-_- Did you know if guys like sweet stuffs means they are generous people? However, if they have a liking for sour...means they are...erm...careful with their money :P *mum's words of wisdom to her daughter in filtering guys hahahaha*

Eating with these sakais though. Never ever ends with one place. Next ting I knew we were at DIB (deaf in business) cafe. A cafe that serves coffee frm Hawaii, ran by deaf people (just maybe 1/2 are not deaf) and yes if I remember right, they are the ones that came up with the menu. From the coffees to the cakes.

I loveee the interior. Maybe it's the big ass Mural hahah I wished they had free hibiscus to tuck in our hair or Hawaiian wreaths (Lei) by the door to wear. Would have felt very Hawaiian and homely. Most of the patrons i saw were deaf. So most tables you can see people communicating in sign languages.

They encourage people to order By using simple sign languages. Yes the girl Mila in the pic is really one of their waitresses and she's veryvery sweet. For a moment during ordering, felt like I was in another 'country' cause it was a different language (Like how if you are in Paris/Japan and you no speak their linggo) in the end all I remember was the thank you gesture cause I was using it for everything. When they place the drinks , when I ask for the washroom etcetc. To order they have some button thing on the table, once pressed , some bracelet thing that the waitresses are wearing will buzz and they will attend to you.

Am not a coffee person so I stuck with my tea. Tisanes (Hawaiian Herbal Tea RM7) is served here. Flavours includes : Coffee Cherry, Hibiscus Raspberry, Jasmine Blossom Green Tea, Lavender, Lemongrass, Mamaki Ginger and Papaya Leaf Vanilla. Now that I am typing the list...I wonder why did I called for Ginger Tea when the others sound much more "exotic." hahaha Ginger tea was soso for me for I like my ginger tea strong . This was mild and could barely taste ginger. Lemongrass was better in terms of taste.

Latte was normal (am no coffee fan but family loves coffee so my tongue has been soiled by good coffees that they will ask me to drink a sip every time, anywhere ) but the freshly brewed coffee was not bad. Bittersweet, Audrey says. Guess would have to bring my mom for the final verdict .

Premium Freshly brewed Coffee RM10.50
Big Island of Hawaii, Molokai Island, Maui Island

It was good experience and would love to go back there to try their homemade coconut ice cream, cakes, pies and many other varieties of drinks. Not only coffee, but they have very interesting looking smoothies (from their names larh haha) Peeked at other tables too. Food looks appetizing. Helps that fish n chips were served on a fish shaped plate :D

Anne with her small birthday present that I got at the very last minute and randomly wrapped. It's fuchsia pink, shocked her when she was opening it halfway in the cafe, just to quickly stuff it back again :P

I wanna see Anne Jr. please hahahahahahahahahahaha :P the present should speed things up

Can never get sick of Daiso

I will never forget the first time I met Daiso. It was back in Japan year 2008. I really felt like a kid in a candy store (and more!! Do kids even enjoy candy stores nowadays with their faces buried in iPads??) and for that 30 minutes I spent God knows how much because 100yen is like RM1! When technically..it's RM3.40 (curse following tours!! 30 minutes is like effing short! But maybe I should be thankful for it haha)

Okay, it's worse now cause back here it's RM5 but I still sometimes pretend it's just actually, originally 100 yen....-_- the amount of stuffs that I have randomly bought frm Daiso throughout the years shall not be counted and I can't wait for a day when someone just tells me that my birthday gift is to let me buy whatever I want from Daiso, unlimited !! Woah!! My ah pek die also don't wanna give me that privilege :( *sad*

In fact every time there is a Daiso nearby, he holds my hands real tight T-T sad!! At least I don't go amok buying branded stuffs right?? (unless it's Zara..Topshop...*looks away*) and there is this one time, I attended a 'business' wedding at IOI mall...halfway through I excused myself to the toilet but actually I went into Daiso which was just nearby the restaurant...by the time I was done, they were tidying the table for dessert...*hides* sorry papa..:(

Was suppose to be studying and finishing my jap homework but I got distracted. Behold one of the best 100 yen spent :P
Damn happy. Almost forgot how much fun coloring books are. Am gonna force the ah pek to do it with me this weekend keke* wonder if they still sell those with girls whose eyes are big and shiny kind. Kinda miss those.

And dammit. Now I need to find my colour pencils!! roar*

KAKA Art Market 卡卡創意市集 - Shaw Parade KL 2012

Always wanted to go to KAKA Art Market since ......since I knew about it. hahaha but I always seem to forget (or things tend to come up at the last minute T_T) despite it's stagnant date.

Date : Always on the first Sunday of every month
Loc : Shaw Parade KL

Finally....T_T
Finally..........I get to go *gam dong*throws cheese confetti*

They always (I think) have a theme for it. This time around it's "Once Upon A Time.." :D Listen already also happy! Like who the heck did not grow up with "Once Upon A Time.." fairytales?! (and the same voice that says that line! every time O_o) And if I'm not wrong again, usually the vendors will try to sell things fitting to the theme. Actually, I had super high expectations for it. So when I came out from the elevator, just to turned and see the above...I was a bit...shocked? laughs* Not that the vendors weren't good, I guess I was expecting more? Although there was around 20-ish vendors but it was like...*look see look see* and I was done in....15 minutes max. hahahahahaha that is effing short compared to how much time I always spend at Pipit Wonderful Market. I guess Pipit is bigger in comparison. But nevertheless, I was joyjoy cause although there were some repeats, but there were some I have never seen before despite going Pipit many times :D

The only shop that I bought something from....or more like ah pek bought for me. *hides face*...cause my wallet had only RM4. You can NEVER EVER get something for RM4 from a handcraft art market..oh. maybe like a 5"x5" cloth larh-_- I guess one of the reason he obliged was cause he himself has never seen handmade pottery at these kind of handcraft art market. Neither had I.

I know it's not cheap *stares at obvious price tag* but I thought it was worth since I doubt they do re-makes and they had a demo pottery session right there! dammit. If only my finger wasn't infected. Ever since I watched "Honey & Clover", pottery was something that I wished I had the chance at least dip my hands to.

Owlssss :D soooo kiuteeeeee~
Handmade by the teacher himself. He did some Ilamas too. I thought they were wonderful as well (dammit no shots!) but they weren't cheap and there was this particular one that came tied with a bell. A China lady grabbed it fast...and arh...she definitely wasn't gonna let it go. hahahaha T_T The one we settled on was a normal bowl with an embossed pair of birds : ) It was done by the girl who was taking care of the stall. I actually asked her what was the purpose of the bowl before buying it and she said it can be anything I want to use it for. Multi purposela so to speak. I actually have the nerve to say "Oh, I thought you would have a concept in mind as of why it is done with such design and shape first."

-_____________________________________________________-

SHIT. DAMN RUDE, BULAT. DAMN RUDE.

by the time it was out of my mouth, it was too late to retreat!!
*note to self*
filter ALL words!! roar!*
http://pandaeyesdiy.blogspot.com
ahhhh! I love this shop! I mean look at the bunnneeeehhhs!  :D ah pek said I have weiiiiiirrrrddddddd taste...-_- what?! are you trying to say the maker himself is weird too?! pifts* different people, sure got different taste ma. correct?? *defensive* haha too bad, I could not find a reason to buy any of the above and ...I only have RM4-_- ah pek definitely not gonna loan me money to buy something he finds...weird...T_T but one thing, we saw the "person" behind this shop. He was actually sewing something on the spot. Cause he was deep in work....we took a while to register that he IS a guy......AND a young one AND a not bad looking one. (yes, we like to "kap jai") Suddenly, his creations look even nicer after that hahahaha :P

The Frog Prince
....The stall that made ah pek wanna buy their whole Mouse Family Clay Set home. *laughs* Doesn't the above looks.....like...amazing? my eyes went O_O It was made just to fit the theme-_-..... I think half the people who were there, on the spot wanted to join their classes. It was hard to believe for me that clay can look this good. Honestly, they should work with people who can bake. I feel they are even more detailed then most fondant bakers out there. Not sure how much of a difference it is in texture between clay and fondant but seriously....can sell. Sure earn! I should tell them! hahahah :D

If not, maybe aspiring bakers should take clay art classes first. Just a thought.

Jewellery Clay Cupcake Boxes and Matryoshka Dolls.....T_T I would gladly buy if ...I HAD MORE THEN RM4. ROAR* I think it makes good proposal gifts :D Especially the Frog one....hahahahahaha :D What a look! They sold earrings (dangling ones unfortunately) and clay charm bracelets, those were really cute but priced around rm50 to 60-ish.

Erm..cause "Cow & Chicken" from Nickelodeon was running through my head when I saw these. :P Otherwise, just thought they were cute. Esp the Mother Hen with her 2D baby chicks haha

Vendors that were there but no pics cause I always see them at Pipit.

Pupurin  : the girl who runs it reminds me of my late kaima. very soft spoken and humble :D I bought a "Do-It-Yourself" kit...that I had not started on..*draws circles on the floor* if you love cats, a must click!

Lullabelle Soap : personally never bought anything from her before but I know her lipbalm and nail ointment is very sellable plus if you ever wanna buy very personalized soap, then you must get it from her.

Bugaboo : weird creatures galore!! I always wanted to buy one...but mom doesn't allow anymore "random creatures" to sleep on my bed with me..T_T so...I'm waiting for the day ah pek to buy a bigger bed so I can *uh-hm* migrate some there to make some space on mine :P

a very satisfied day....even more satisfied if Typica was opened T_T sad!* heard that coffee is their speciality, but actually I was eyeing out for their famous Yam Cake...like you know...normal sponge butter cake with yam paste? :D

Sad to say , all the way there just to hear that they took a short holiday to Borneo or somewhere. Oh well, it just means mom now has a chance to go with me for their coffee since I am gonna make another trip. Can't wait larhhhh!!!

of finding humor in the midst of seriousness

Title aside....Am not going to brush my teeth tonight cus I just noticed a big ass cockroach at the toilet mirror the moment I on the lights T_T damn effing
big okay!!! I was practically chanting 'don't fly... Don't fly..' If it does fly... I tell you, the whole neighborhood is gonna hear.me.ROAR!!

And ironically after telling the whole world that I have not been going to the movies lately.. I watched 'Mirror Mirror' today after watching 'A Simple Life' yesterday.

Although a somewhat predictable storyline despite the tweaking to the original Snow White story. The movie left everyone laughing throughout, although I cannot claim it will be everyone's cup of tea.

But for me, since I usually feast with my eyes. Visual wise was very captivating and colourful (think Alice in Wonderland colourful?) thus *uh-hm* biasly, I will like the movie haha There were some bits and pieces of the movie you would never thought of as well. You will have to watch it to see if it suits your taste.

I also liked how they put Snow White in a much stronger character in comparison to the 'normal Grimm/Disney Snow White'. In this movie, it's more to Disney's Rapunzel;Tangled or Frog's Princess where the main girl character nowadays has more guts and brains, (or at least try to be one and break away from the norm) and not just sit around waiting for prince charming to come along.

All in all, watch with zero expectations in mind. Get over how distracted you are gonna be for the first 5 min of the movie due to Snow White's thick eyebrows. Still get awed by Julia Roberts in every way. Indulge in the simple humor and colour of the movie.

Last but not least, wait for the credits. Or you can just watch it here. *laughs* I personally liked it.

Actually, if you have watched and enjoyed 'Bride and Prejudice' (the parody wan) you will enjoy 'Mirror Mirror'.

桃姐 ; A Simple Life

For a supposedly sad movie, surprisingly crybaby me did not cry. It was not extremely sad in my opinion but it was certainly bittersweet. It's like an aftertaste from a cup of coffee. You just have this feeling in your heart and in your mind during and even after the show is over. Definitely prefer these over brainless non storyline action pack movies. *cough* surprisingly although the movie is set in a rather slow pace, it was actually flowed in a way you would not feel it at all. I guess in a way it was just suppose to make you feel enough without having to cry a bucketful of tears.

Based on a true story, revolves around the relationship between the housekeeper/servant who served the family for a wholesome 60 years (that's like really many generations) and the young master whom was with her till the very end.

In all honesty, I found their relationship very .... cute. Haha it's felt very true to the core as well. Like how you know, this housekeeper has been with you for many many years. But as of recent only when you are older , you truly learn to appreciate and love her for all that she has done for you and your family with all her heart. And being Chinese where it's not really a norm to show emotions ( we don't really hug hug here and there like the foreigners do although this might change in time to come) you can see the natural transition where the main characters naturally start to bond more and the housekeeper despite it all still kept it strong at her roots that she's a housekeeper and doesn't deserve all the good they are giving her. Very typical old Chinese thinking as well, where they never let people spend money on them cus it's a waste to do so. ( took me eons to convince my grandma that although a 200rm pair of shoes is indeed kinda pricey but its well worth knowing that her feet would be very comfy in it when she goes travelling... You knoww?? Seriously, buy one pair of shoes also gotta debate so long!! You know how many youngsters out there can just finish 200rm one night in a club ?? Bet my grandma will stick to those shoes till they koyak!! Super worth lo!! )

But after all that, I felt the most emotions and prolly the most frightening slot of the movie was the reality of old folks home out there. It was ... Like some horror movie scene to me. I think I got even more upset when my mom told me that the one in the movie is already very decent. I really felt like crying watching all the old people staying there. I will never ever let my grandparents nor my parents in the future enter any old folks home unless they come with swimming pool, karaoke and trips! But my mom said if such place exists... She would register herself in, I don't have to do it for her-_-

Once in a while it's good to just watch a movie like this. Makes you stop and reevaluate what is really important in the long run. Am not asking anyone to make a 180 degree change, but sometimes a small token of gratitude and appreciation to your love ones really will go a long way. Even if it doesn't mean much to you , you will never know what/how the other party might feel. So might as well don't take it for granted.

And I am seriously getting too old to watch a late night movie.....my stomach was growling. So now I know at 2am my stomach needs food..:P
